The distribution and abundance of galaxy clusters at different epochs
are sensitive probes of dark energy. They measure structure growth on
much smaller scales than baryon oscillations, providing complementary
information. Ongoing and future surveys will yield rich cluster
catalogs. The task is to connect observations to simulations by
addressing the following questions: How can the mass of a simulated
cluster be connected to optical, mm-wave, X-ray, and IR observations
(the mass-observable relations)? How important are astrophysical
feedback effects? How well can the mass distribution -- exponentially
sensitive to dark energy -- be predicted? We will attack these
questions by combining cluster observations from ACT, BCS, SDSS, and
SPT with dark matter and hydrodynamic simulations.
