Cosmology and Astrophysics - More Projects in Progress

I hope you don't react like Salman (left upper corner) hearing that this was still not it. In this section I show some interesting new results and projects I am working on at the moment and everything that does not fit into the other categories. New projects will be posted and explained as they develop.
  1. Recently, Kev Abazajian, Eric Swizter, Scott Dodelson, Salman Habib, and myself have investigated how much massive neutrinos alter the nonlinear matter power spectrum. For this analysis we have used the halo model. We hope to report soon also results from N-body simulations incorporating massive neutrinos.

  2. Together with Zarija Lukic, Salman Habib, and Paul Ricker I am studying the mass function of dark matter halos at high redshifts. This topic is especially interesting in the light of the high reionization redshift at around z=20 found by WMAP. In order to figure out what could have caused such early reionization we have to understand what halos did exist at that time to host the reionization sources. We have finished a first paper on the topic and a second one is underway. We find that the new Warren mass function fit is in excellent agreement with simulations down to redshift of z=20 and therefore ideally suited for reionization analysis.

  3. Together with David Higdon, Charles Nakhleh, and Salman Habib I am working on an optimal way to constrain cosmological parameters from observations and simulations. We have recently published our first paper on the topic, introducing a new and powerful statistics framework for this task.
