R & D Approach

Broadly speaking, the research effort can be divided into two parts: Beam Dynamics and Electromagnetics, although for several applications the two will eventually be integrated.

Beam Dynamics -- lead lab: LANL.
Electromagnetics -- lead lab: SLAC.

Object-Oriented Methodologies

We are exploring parallel object-oriented methods in order to incorporate them in production versions of the codes now under development. Both C++-based and F90/HPF-based paradigms are under investigation.

Parallel Object-Oriented Methods and Applications (POOMA) -- based on C++.
Object-Oriented Fortran 90 Programming -- based on work by Decyk, Norton, and Szymanski; includes tutorials and performance data on PIC codes.
