The Nightshade/Venom Cluster

Nightshade is a rack-mounted 36-node, 72 processor Beowulf cluster with 36GB of RAM and 300GB of parallel disk. The processors are 500MHz Pentium IIIs. Nightshade supports MPI with C, C++, F77, F90 as well as HPF. Codes run on this machine include lattice QCD and nuclear physics applications, (stochastic) PDE solvers, beam physics and cosmological simulations. Main responsibility for Nightshade rests with Tanmoy Bhattacharya (T-8), Joe Carlson (T-16), Salman Habib (T-8), and Daniel Steck (T-8). A major enhancement to Nightshade has been completed: the Venom upgrade adds two racks of 128 2.2 GHz Xeons with a total of 128 GB of RAM connected via a GigE network. Total disk is 1.3 TB. An upgrade to 5 TB of RAID is also operational. The main Nightshade/Venom cluster website is maintained by Dan Steck.
