Quantum Control

My main interests in the theory of control of quantum dynamical systems relate to the questions of measurement backaction, analogy with classical control theory, the formulation and solution of the associated stochastic partial differential equations, and applications to experiments, in particular, to cavity QED and quantum nanomechanical devices. I am involved with several people in studying these problems, notably Andrew Doherty (Queensland), John Doyle (Caltech), Asa Hopkins (Caltech), Kurt Jacobs (Griffith), Hideo Mabuchi (Caltech), Keith Schwab (LPS), Daniel Stteck (Oregon), and my LANL colleague Tanmoy Bhattacharya. These activities were supported under the T-Division QUEST initiative (now ended) which included developing collaborations with MIT, UC Santa Barbara, and UT Austin. For more on this topic, see the description of our project on Quantum Feedback Control.
