Santa Fe Summer Workshop 1999

Structure Formation and Dark Matter: Theory vs. Observations

June 28 - July 16

Introduction

The Santa Fe topical workshop for 1999 will concentrate on recent developments in cosmology, especially those related to current and expected observational advances, including the cosmic microwave background, large-scale structure, and dark matter. The format will emphasize discussion with some formal review and related talks as appropriate. Generally speaking we would like to reserve the largest fraction of the day for discussion and informal meeting. To encourage this informality and discussion, attendance wil be limited to about 50 participants.

Note: This page and the associated information are mirrored internally on 24 hour basis, and so changes may not appear immediately. We know that this time-lag is sometimes confusing, but there is currently no better way to do it at our end.

Schedule

Location

Housing

Housing is available both at St. John's campus and nearby in Santa Fe proper and will be provided at a substantial subsidy. Units for family groups as well as single participants will be available. After-subsidy housing costs will be in the range $0-$20/person-day, depending on final funding status and level of participation.

Housing arrangements are now finalized. The cost to participants will be $100/week. Checks are ok.

Travel

Travel expenses for participants will not be covered. Participants must seek funding support for their own travel.

The best way to get to the Santa Fe area is to fly to Albuquerque. Santa Fe is approximately a one-hour drive from the Albuquerque airport. If you are driving, exit the airport taking I-25 north. To get to the plaza area exit I-25 at the St. Francis street exit and follow the signs. Directions to the St. John's campus are given above. Shuttle service from the Albuquerque airport is also available on a regular basis; call 505-982-4311 (Sandia Shuttle) for reservations and schedule information.

Other Expenses

Other expenses will not be covered. In particular, no per-diem will be available.

Registration

Registration is now closed. Because of various difficulties with computing at LANL, there has been some confusion regarding registrations. Do not fear. If you registered at the previous web site, then you should be OK. Others who failed to register by March 15 should contact the organizers at workshop@t8-serv.lanl.gov.

Participant Information

The following lists the tentative attendance schedule for confirmed participants. If you registered and are not listed here, be mildly patient. We will sort out the details before Apr. 16. Thanks.
